Dasavatharam – Released Finally!

The costliest Indian film ever made, has hit screens in Tamil and Telugu.The Hindi version will be out in about two weeks. Made on an enormous budget of Rs.1.3 billion, ‘Dasavathaaram’ creates history for many of its specialties. The film features Kamal Hassan in phenomenal ten different roles - creating a world record for the maximum number of roles in a single film.
It has been said that the computer graphics itself cost a mind boggling Rs.250 million!
Although Kamal left no stone unturned to craft an exceptional film, controversies haunted the movie and its producer throughout. At least three cases were heard in the Madras High Court and an appeal reached the Supreme Court. The courts took some time but finally cleared the decks for its release by dismissing pleas about hurting religious sentiments and various other criticisms and controversies.
Ravichandran was busy throughout the week organizing special shows for politicians, distributors and for the big shots of the Tamil film industry. About 1,000 prints of the film in Tamil and Telugu are being released. Cinema owners say that the shows are booked for at least three weeks in advance! Kamal’s fans are absolutely sure that this movie will be a smash hit!
